Tarot cards are an invaluable tool you can use for insight and perspective on some of life’s most stressful and uncertain situations.
When consulting your tarot cards for insight or advice it is important to have the right frame of mind and some basic guidelines to adhere to.
Believe it or not the way your question is phrased can greatly affect the outcome of a tarot reading.
You need to have a clear idea of what you want to ask before you even take out your cards.
When thinking about your question let your mind dwell on the details.
Are you looking for a specific answer?
Or just an overview?
Use this information and the following suggestions to form an outline for your question and you can’t go wrong.
ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY
When you accept responsibility for your circumstances you accept that solving the issue is your responsibility as well.
Taking responsibility for your thoughts, feelings, words, and actions means you stop blaming others and take into your own hands the power to create the life you want.
The power of tarot resides in the reader. The more faith you have in your self and your ability to resolve the issue at hand, the better your chances are of being able to problem solve the heck out of it.
After all the tarot can not make our decisions for us!
FOCUS ON YOU
When doing a tarot reading it is important to keep your focus on your own issues and how it is affecting you.
Tarot should not be used to “spy” on others or for malicious intent.
That’s just plain dishonest and rude! Instead, take a look at your overall situation and how it affects you.
Keep your focus toward self-love and positivity.
We are only human, but we should strive to do what is best for our greatest good. And good vibes attract good vibes!
KEEP QUESTIONS OPEN-ENDED
It’s tough to hit the sweet spot between too vague and too complicated. An open-ended question allows you to describe an issue in a way that is more accurate and querent specific.
These types of questions have the potential for multiple responses leaving room to explore the situation more fully.
Avoid asking yes and no questions as well as questions involving a time frame as they oversimplify the complexity of the nature of the issue, can misrepresent an acceptable possibility, and just plain takes the power of making our own decisions away from us.
Good questions ask how, why, and what.
Some examples of open-ended questions would include:
- What life lessons am I currently working on?
- Why did my sister react so negatively to my pregnancy?
- How can I improve my chances of getting a promotion at work?
- What good things surround me?
- How can I improve my relationship with my partner?
- I keep ending up in relationships with the same type of person. What am I not seeing?
FOCUS YOUR INTENT
Our intent creates our reality. When you know what your intentions are it is so much easier to manifest these things in our lives.
This is also true for a tarot reading. When asking the tarot your question you need to be mindful of the moment and clear on your intent. Tarot is a reflection of your subconscious.
If your mind is disorganized your tarot reading will also appear disorganized. It is helpful to write your question down rather than trying to memorize it.
That way you can focus your intent more precisely. A clearer question produces a clearer answer.
I ASKED THE QUESTION, BUT I DIDN’T GET THE RIGHT ANSWER!
Sometimes tarot will tell you what you need to hear vs what you’re wanting to hear.
Especially If you ask the same question multiple times.
Believe it or not, on more than one occasion I’ve had my tarot cards tell me to stop asking! I’ve had persistent clients who would reword their questions to try to get an answer that pleased them only for the tarot to respond with the Hermit reversed!(Don’t overly rely on your mentor/outside guidance)
Also, sometimes it is best to be a little vague when asking your question so that you can see a bigger picture of what is going on around you.
You never realize how limited you are when you’re too close to the issue.
Tarot will tell you what is right for you to hear at the right time. Sometimes you just have to wait.
RELAX
Stress clouds intuition. In other words unfocused thoughts will impede your ability to pick up the messages the universe has to offer.
There’s nothing worse than being stressed out and only getting nonsense when you lay out your cards!
Before I do a reading, even if it is just for a card of the day, I take a moment to ground and relax.
Focusing on yourself, having clear intent, using open-ended questions, and accepting responsibility for your circumstances will generate the perfect question for any situation.
By incorporating these key concepts you are certain to get outstanding results whenever you consult your tarot cards.
P.S. Don’t forget to relax!
